New Study to Help Women with Breast Cancer with Body Image, Identity and Sexuality Concerns

Recruiting Now!

Placeholder ImageFor many women, a diagnosis of breast cancer and its treatment can have a significant impact on body image, emotional well-being, sense of identity and relationships, even after treatments have finished.

We are conducting a study to test a new support group focused on helping women who have completed treatments for breast cancer and who have specific concerns about their body image and sexual functioning.  The study is being offered through Princess Margaret Hospital and Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre.

The study is designed to compare a short-term support group program versus standard educational materials after treatment for breast cancer.  The purpose of the study is to compare which intervention is most beneficial in helping with coping after breast cancer treatments with issues such as body image, sexuality and relationships.

Who is eligible to participate?

  • Diagnosis of breast cancer (Stage I - III)
  • Completed or nearing the end of treatment
  • Have had a mastectomy or lumpectomy
  • Interested in exploring issues around body image, quality of life and relationships
